Physical Therapy for Bursitis
Bursitis is a painful condition caused by the inflammation of a small fluid-filled sac or pad (bursa). The purpose of these sacs is to cushion bones, tendons and muscles near the joints.
Bursitis is most often caused by repetitive motions (such as lifting) or static physical positions (such as prolonged sitting). People suffering from bursitis typically have the condition in their shoulder, elbow, hip or knee — near the joints that perform the frequent repetitive motions.
If the underlying issue that caused the bursitis is not addressed, then frequent flare-ups can be expected. So it’s important to get treatment as early as possible.
Common bursitis symptoms include pain with movement, tenderness to touch, decreased range of motion, swelling, and redness.
